Everywhere are roses in bloom! Probably because of the hot weather and occasional rainy night it is a bumper year. Public parks, cottage gardens or big beds on the big estates ... they are quite wonderful!

Luss on Loch Lomond is one example. This village is used for film settings; it is quite charming, set on the west side of Loch Lomond. It is also a honey-pot for tourist bus parties. Today was no exception. Groups of visitors, all with cameras and/or licking ice-cream cones, were sauntering around this picturesque village enjoying the flowers before heading down to the busy beach.

I envy your good weather for roses. Years ago when we moved to this house I joined the Rose Society and within 2 years had 150 rose bushes. It took many hours of work to keep them growing because of the harsh weather conditions and insects. When I went back to work full time I could not keep working on them and within a few years they were all gone, apart from a wild rose which reappeared this year. Now, I just visit rose gardens and would love to visit Luss on Loch Lomond. There is a beautiful rose garden in Columbus, Ohio where we spent the last 10 days visiting family; I’ll post some of the roses soon.
