Iain fell.
Badly.
Very badly.
However, he is alive to tell the tale.
Or he would if he was here
But he is in hospital.
He fell 2 stories inside the house while working in the attic space.
Like a trap door giving way, he fell through the ceiling.
Knocked out but recovered enough to get up and walk.
Thankfully.
He has a broken rib, and 2 cracked cervical vertebrae.
And that is not to mention the black eye
Which makes him look like a drunk who fell down the stairs.
He is recovering but the exact form of treatment is still to be decided.
(Probably a neck brace and maybe also an upper torso brace.)

He is so fortunate as this could have been a terrible accident. One of my very good friends at work retired a few months before me, after working 36 years in the company. With his wife they moved to a beautiful brand new house before Christmas 2007. While he was in the attic space gathering the Christmas decorations for the big party they had planned, he fell through the ceiling, 2 floors, down, but on his head and was killed instantly. Maybe your husband should wear a hard hat if he goes in the attic again. He is lucky; give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
