JUMPERLESS JULY

Blue skies, blue mountains and blue sea! This is Real Summer! And Real Sunshine! Time to shed the carapace of wooly jumpers in July!

Alastair and Dawn live in an apartment which is cleverly designed to enable a view both northwards to the Coast Range, and the 2 Lions Peaks (centre) behind North Vancouver, and south-westwards looking over the Burrard Inlet (and Burrard Bridge).

I found it very un-nerving to look down from windows, well, actually walls of glass, 20 stories up! People who live and work in such offices must get used to it but I felt I had to step back to overcome the feeling of being pulled towards the edge!

Back on the ground a more comfortable place for me was the seawall which winds around False Creek and out to English Bay and Stanley Park. An early evening stroll was just the ticket to charge the batteries after 11 hours traveling. (To be fair, an 8 hour flight to Calgary in the Airbus 330 is a reduction of time from my past experiences of about 9 hours before the Calgary stop-over.)

In the False Creek Marina was a lovely wooden boat with a canoe stern and a flower pot giving a home to a very healthy bunch of lavendar!

One of the many Vancouver After-Work Stress Buster Activities: skate boarding, sailing, jogging, cycling, dog-walking, or like me, just out walking in the summer sunshine!
